Zoot

Source: Monty Python and the Holy Grail

Completed: 2010

Excerpt from the segment: The Tale of Sir Galahad

"Oh, wicked, bad, naughty Zoot! She has been setting a light to our beacon, which, I've just remembered, is grail-shaped. It's not the first time we've had this problem...

Oh, wicked, bad, naughty, evil Zoot! She is a naughty person...and she must pay the penalty! And here in Castle Anthrax, we have but one punishment for setting alight the grail-shaped beacon: You must tie her down on a bed, and spank her.

You must spank her well, and after you have spanked her, you may deal with her as you like. And then...spank me!

Yes, you must give us all a good spanking!

...and after the spanking...the Oral Sex!!"

Ok, if you haven't seen a Monty Python movie, you have no excuse but to find this one and watch it. It's my favorite of the Monty Python movies. And the character Zoot/Dingo is from one of my favorite segments of the movie.

The main portion of the gown is created from a floral brocade bridal fabric and I used Simplicity Pattern 5189 as a base. The undershirt is a turtle neck I grabbed out of the closet. The hat was made with Pellon 70, cut and hand sewn into shape, then covered in white Casa Satin. A gold chain and faux pearl encrusted button were used as embellishments. The veil was made from white Casa chiffon and draped to shape. It also helps to hold the hat on.

I also made the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, as it was another much beloved item from the movie. It was made from a memory ball, metallic trim, and craft foam, all painted in gold. The memory ball is a round plastic ornament that opens in half to put stuff in, which can be found at most craft stores.

This outfit was first worn at Dragon*Con 2010, where myself, and friends Yesod and the DreamerWorld, as the Black Knight and Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog, took pictures with other Monty Python costumers. We found a Lady of the Lake (from Spamalot), a King Arthur, Sir Bedevere, and a witch!
